Griffin Free Public Library – Auburn, NH

Open House Wrap-Up (and Scavenger Hunt winner!)

To all of you who came, contributed, or gave well-wishes to us on open house day, thank you so very much! We managed to get over 100 attendees for the open house, which is far and above my hope. Most importantly, many people were able to get new library cards and get signed up for our new online services. If you didn’t get a chance to visit, but want the online access, please get in touch with us.

Additionally, we had a representative from Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s office, and received notes of congratulations from Senator Shaheen and Governor Hassan. We are humbled at the recognition and appreciative of the time taken to hear about what is happening at Griffin Free.

Finally – we had a great scavenger hunt contest. Four entries were received – and all will get a small prize on their next visit. Of the four, three managed to answer 9 of 10 questions correctly, which meant that we had to go to the tie-breaker. The tie-breaker question was: How many total items does Griffin Free have available? The answers from the three tied entries were all very close. The winner….Jess Trickett! Her answer was the closest to the correct total, which is just over 19,500 items. All of the entrants were stymied by the large number of little books in our children’s room. Jess wins a $10 gift certificate to our annual book sale! Congratulations!
