You may have seen mention of this group from time to time here and on Griffin Free’s Facebook account. And now, there’s a whole page dedicated just to this wonderful organization! Just check out the menu on the left size of your screen, and click on Friends of Griffin Free.
There, you can learn a little more about the group – when they meet, what they do, and how to join.
The Friends support the library by providing funds for things we cannot afford through the normal library budget. Recent acquisitions include museum passes, patio furniture, and additional folding chairs so that we can give everybody a comfortable seat for our programs.
I am highlighting their page because the people in that group right now are dedicated and hard-working – and need help. They are handling a lot of tasks for events and fundraisers, and even just a little assistance would go a long way. Joining doesn’t take much, and you can be a huge help with very little time commitment. For example, you could help by sending letters to solicit donations, picking up a few odds and ends at a local store for an upcoming event, or sitting at their Auburn Day/Duck Race table to sell popcorn for a couple hours on Saturday, September 12th.
Every little bit helps, and now is a particularly exciting time to join as the Friends are about to start looking at Griffin Free’s latest “wish list” to decide what to contribute next. There are some very fun and exciting things on that list, and you could be in the know, on the ground floor, and ahead of the curve: whichever suits you best.
If you are interested in taking a closer look at the group, their next meeting takes place on Monday, August 31st at 6:00 p.m. at the library. Or feel free to send me an email (email@example.com) and I’ll put you in touch with the current group.
Thanks for keeping up with us here at griffinfree.com, and thanks for your continued support!
