Join us at Griffin Free Library for a special winter evening of poetry featuring oral memoirist and storyteller Michael Czarnecki. Michael will bring his unique blend of poetry and oral tradition to Auburn on the heels of the publication of his newest collection “There Is Only This Moment.”
This reading and signing will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30. Michael will read and recite poetry from his recent books and share memories from his life as a poet and writer.
Michael lives and works out of a 50 acre homestead atop Wheeler Hill in Kanona, NY. He’s been touring the country, giving readings and telling stories since 1995 when he quit his job at a winery to write full-time.
“Sometimes I think that the most important thing we do in our lives is to create – whether poems, stories, artwork, music, children or love,” Michael says. “I go out into the ‘dust of the world,’ as the old Chinese poets would say, doing the work of a poet and oral memoirist. I travel down the road and then settle back in with my family on quiet, peaceful Wheeler Hill amongst my old-order Amish neighbors. The best of two worlds.”
This event will be free and open to the public and Michael will have copies of his books on hand to sell.
