REVIEW: The Power by Naomi Alderman

For readers who liked The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, this is another story about humanity and the treatment of women. However, in this book the women discover they have the power to generate electricity.  This creates havoc all over the world as nations unravel and others are established.

The Power is presented as historical fiction from 5000 years into our future when women dominate the world. The novel has some intense scenes of violence, but ultimately questions the abuse of power by men and women.

Potentially a great book club option as the ending provokes much thought.
