Griffin Free Public Library – Auburn, NH

Where Auburn Comes Together!

COVID-19 Update

Update: March 17, 2020

I understand that the library being closed is difficult for many and that not everyone is able to, or does not enjoy, using digital options. The Library Trustees and staff are reviewing creative options and solutions to this issue, but they are a few weeks away.

In the meantime, for the months of March and April, the number of Hoopla checkouts permitted will soon be increased to 5 per month, per library card holder.

In addition, for those of you who use NH Downloadable Books through Overdrive/Libby: the parent company, Overdrive is working with publishers to provide increased free and low cost options to libraries and their users during this time. Both the State Consortium that runs NH Downloadable, as well as Griffin Free, are also monitoring holds and wait times and working to increase capacity and decrease wait times.

March 15, 2020 – Dear Auburn Community Members – The Library Trustees and staff have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. We are also aware that New Hampshire Schools have now closed at least until April 3 to help reduce the spread of this novel virus. In addition, many libraries across the state are closing as well.

The Library Trustees are scheduled to meet tomorrow, Monday, March 16 at 6:30 PM at the library. At this meeting they will be discussing if the library will close as well. Once a decision has been voted upon, an announcement will appear on this page as well as on our social media accounts.

If the library does close for the next couple of weeks, please know that I will still be available to answer questions via email and renew library accounts. In addition, we have a wealth of online library resources available to library card holders including, ebooks, streaming audiobooks, movies and music. The library’s email addresses are and staff@griffin

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to make an informed decision.

Kathy Growney, Library Director
