Where Auburn Comes Together!

Review: The Four Winds

If you haven’t discovered Kristin Hannah yet, her latest book is a great place to start. The Four Winds takes place in the US during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl and tells the story of Elsa, born and raised in Texas to a family who doesn’t love her. We follow Elsa through her growth into womanhood, becoming a mother, finding a family that does lover her and her fight for survival.

Although Kristin Hannah started writing this book over three years ago and yet it has a surprising relevance to what is happening currently and is one of the reasons that this book makes an excellent choice for Book Clubs.

I listened to the audio version which was brought to life by narrator Julia Whelan (one of my favorites) and the characters will stay with you long after you have finished the book.

My only minor complaint is that the author did change historical timelines to make them fit the story, but I guess that is the benefit of writing a piece of fiction.

Griffin Free has print copies available in regular and large print formats as well as the audiobook. eBook and streaming audio are available on the Libby app or nh.overdrive.com.
