Hi everyone! I’ll bet you all know Auburn Historical Association president Dan Carpenter. We’re featuring him today because Dan set a wonderful record for the library today by being the 1,000th patron to stop by in a span of one month – the first time in the library’s history (that we know of) that it’s happened! Dan took home a library tote and a gift certificate to be put toward this year’s Annual Book Sale.
Numbers in every category – from patron count, to library card sign ups, to both print and digital circulation – have been increasing, but 2023 has been positively off the chart!
Some of that has been due to our Summer Reading program and the efforts of children’s librarian Miss Mary this year. Listen to this – since the program began just over two weeks ago, you all have read nearly 3,500 books and almost 25,000 pages just as part of the summer reading program. We’ve given away 165 prizes, mostly new books to community kids.
Many thanks to our incredible, dedicated staff who work so hard to make sure everyone in the community is well taken care of. And many, many thanks to all our wonderful Auburn patrons and families who have shown us such love and support. We are going places, and it’s all because of you!
If you’d like to become involved as the library moves toward expansion, don’t hesitate to stop by or call. My office door is always open. Till then keep reading, and on behalf of my staff, trustees and friends of the library, thank you!
~Dan
