Online Resources

To log in to any of our databases from home, you need to have an active Griffin Free library card. Then contact the library for login information. Databases marked with an * are provided by the NH State Library.

Following is an alphabetical list of our online resources:

Academic Search Premier* – Full text for more than 3600 journals covering social sciences, humanities, general science, multicultural sties, education, and more. Updated daily. Ages: adult.

American Ancestors – [IN LIBRARY USE ONLY] provides access to more than 1.4 billion records spanning twenty-two countries covering the United States, the British Isles, continental Europe, and beyond, including one of the most extensive online collections of early American genealogical records, the largest searchable collection of published genealogical research journals and magazines, and we are the only online source for Boston’s Catholic records. Provided by the Friends of Griffin Free.


Ancestry Library EditionRemote access has been extended until December 2021. Login to your library account at to gain access. Once you login, look for the “Ancestry” link to the left of your name and just click on it.

The staple source for researching your family history, Ancestry Library Edition contains thousands of databases and millions of records covering census data, vital records, passenger lists, maps, city directories and more. [In Library Use ONLY]

Brainfuse HelpNow – Free online tutoring, online writing lab, online practice tests and more for all ages. Brainfuse is based in NYC and for over a decade, has developed and provided virtual learning solutions for schools, libraries, colleges, and universities. Their philosophy is anchored in adherence to high standards and user-centered technology to build a better educational experience for learners of diverse backgrounds. Business Source Premier* – Full text for over 1100 journals covering business, management, economics, finance, banking, and more. Ages: young adult and up.

eSequels – The online guide to series fiction. Look up your favorite series book order by author or title. Contact the library for password.

Health Source: Consumer Edition* – Information on health topics including medical science, food science/nutrition, childcare, sports medicine, and general health. Full text for nearly 190 journals including Consumer Reports on Health and Men’s Health. Ages: young adult and up.

HeritageQuest® Online – Treasury of American genealogical sources—rich in primary sources, local and family histories, convenient research guides, interactive census maps, and more. Provided by the Friends of Griffin Free Public Library.

Hoopla – Feature films, TV episodes, music and documentary films are available.

Kanopy – Educational, acclaimed movies and documentaries are available.

MAS Ultra: School Edition* – Full text for over 515 general interest and current event magazines. Ages: young adult and up.

MasterFile Premier* – Full text for over 1900 periodicals covering nearly all subjects. Ages: young adult and up.

Middle Search Plus* – Full text for over 145 magazines covering general topics appropriate for middle and junior high students. Ages: children and up.

NH Downloadable Books Consortium (OverDrive/Libby) – EBooks, streaming audiobooks and eMagazine collection.

Newspaper Source* – Full text for regional U.S. Newspapers, international newspapers, newswires, newspaper columns as well as other sources. Ages: young adult and up.

NoveList Plus* – Provides information and resources on over 100,000 fiction titles, including 75,000 reviews and 36,000 subject headings to help you find your next read. Ages: middle school and up.

NoveList Plus (K-8)* – A version of NoveList Plus specifically targeted to children and young adults. It contains materials in the K-8 reading range, including picture books, “chapter” books, and YA titles. Ages: children and up.

Primary Search* – Full text for 57 children’s magazines and over 100 children’s pamphlets, designed for elementary students. Ages: children and up.

Searchasaurus* – A colorful and easy-to-use search tool for elementary and middle-school students. Ages: children and up.

TOPICsearch* – Explore social, political, and economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics used in classrooms. This current events database includes over 400,000 full-text articles selected by teachers and librarians from a wide variety of reference sources. Ages: children and up.
