We start 2025 with a look back at the past year and lots of exciting plans for the months ahead. As I analyze our 2024 statistics, it is clear that 2024 was the library’s best year in our nearly 130-year history! Why?

Well, the incredible number that stands out for me was Patron Usage. As of this writing
in the middle of December, we welcomed 10,687 patrons to the library and
library events, a 16 percent increase overall from last year. For a library our size, that’s a
tremendous usage number! Auburn really loves our little library!

Other amazing numbers include our 2024 Summer Reading program. Patrons read an
astounding 130,000 pages over the summer. We also signed up 200 brand-new
library card users, and you all brought us nearly 20,000 donations! Wow!

In 2025, we are looking forward to continuing to provide services and events that bring Auburn residents together. We already have two NH Humanities programs lined up for February and March. Sometime in May we’ll officially open our new pavilion. We’ll also be holding a WWII live encampment on our grounds in June and I’d like to hold a porch music weekend sometime in the summer. So much to look forward to!

On behalf of myself and the best library staff in the business, thanks for a wonderful 2024! If you have any suggestions or comments, please reach out to me at director@griffinfree.org.I’m always happy to hear from the community!
