How do I get a library card?

Come on in! Bring a form of ID that shows your address in town, or apply online

Does it cost money to get a library card?

Library cards are free to Auburn residents and those who work in town (must show proof). Please visit the Get a Library Card page for details about cards if you do not live and work in Auburn.

How old do you have to be to get a library card?

You can get your own library card when you turn six years old!

How many books can I take out?

There are no limits on the number of books that you make check out as long as you return materials on time!

How long may I keep materials?

Books go out for two weeks and automatically renew for another two weeks as long as nobody is waiting for that title. DVDs circulate for one week and renew for one week. We will call you if someone is waiting for a title and automatic renewals don’t apply.

What is InterLibrary Loan and how long does it take to get materials from other libraries?

Interlibrary Loan allows us to request a title through the state system, which forwards the request to all the libraries in the state. The other libraries respond and ship the requested item to our library. We get deliveries from the state on Tuesday and Thursdays. We will call you when your request comes in! What is the library of things?

The library of things are just that — things! We offer items for check out that are not books, such as guitars, cake pans, ice cream machine and a lot more! Visit our Library of Things webpage to see what is available.

When is story time?

Miss Mary holds story time on Tuesdays at 11 am and Fridays at 1 pm.

How do I see if you have a book or DVD?

Visit the Search the Catalog page! 

How do I put a book on hold?

Search the online catalog. When you find what you want, click on “Place Hold” and you will be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN. Your PIN is the four digit number that was assigned to you when you received your library card or the number you selected when you changed the PIN. If you don’t remember your PIN, please call us at 603-483-5374.

After you enter your card number and PIN, the title will appear and you can confirm the hold. Staff will put the title aside and call you when it is ready for pick-up.

Do you have a book club?

We have a book club that meets once a month, usually the first Wednesday evening of the month at 6:30 pm. Please check our event calendar to see the book that is being discussed and confirm that there has not been a last minute schedule change.

How do I find out about your programs and register for them?

Be sure to join our mailing list [insert link] and visit the events calendar

Click on an event and you will be able to register if registration is required and the event still has availability.  Most programs are free or will request a minimal materials fee.

Do you offer museum passes and how do I reserve one?

Yes, we offer a passes to museums and other attractions throughout the area! Visit our Museum Pass webpage to see the passes available. Read the specifics for each pass and then request one with your library card.

What is Beanstack?

 Beanstack is an online platform that keeps track of what you have read. It also offers monthly challenges where anyone can win prizes or tickets. Beanstack is the platform we use for the annual summer reading program. Visit our Beanstack page and set up an account

What are your streaming services and how do I access them?

We offer Libby(NH downloadables/Overdrive), Hoopla and Kanopy for movies. Please visit our Download and Streaming page for details.

What is Wowbrary?

 Wowbrary is a weekly service to our patrons which notifies you of all the new items received at the library. Sign up for Wowbrary here!

How can I volunteer at the library?

Library Facilities

How do I find out if you are closed for bad weather?

If we close for bad weather, we notify WMUR and post on our website, Facebook page, and to the Auburn community Facebook page.

Are you open on Saturday?

Yes! We are open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM

Do you have WIFI?

We do have public WIFI (password required)!

Do you have a public computer?

We offer a desktop computer for public use and laptop computers for in house use.

Can I make copies or print documents at the library?

Yes, you can make copies and print in black and white for 10 cents a page.

Can we have meetings at the library?

We are very small but we do have an area available for small groups of people in our public non-fiction room.

Do you have a notary?

 We do not have a notary but there is one at the town hall.

What is happening with the expansion?

Community

Do you accept donations?

 Yes we take donations of books, audio and video materials and puzzles and games year round. Items we do not take: magazines, Time Life series, encyclopedias, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, text books older than 10 years, poor condition items(smelly, moldy, torn etc…)

When is the book sale?

 The Annual Book Sale is always the last weekend in July. 

When and what is the Duck Race?

 The Duck Race is a yearly Auburn festival sponsored by the Auburn Historical Association. Typically, it takes place in early September. For more information, visit the Historical Association’s website.
