Griffin Free Public Library runs fun challenges throughout the year to get (and keep) everyone from toddlers to adults reading as much as possible! Win prizes for logging your reading and reaching age-appropriate goals!
We use Beanstack, an online platform and app that makes recording your reading and entering challenges quick and easy! You will need to sign up for Beanstack either online or through the app for your mobile phone.
We will post information about the latest challenges in the News and Events sections of this website, on social media, and through emails if you join our mailing list.
FAQs About Beanstack
A reading challenge motivates you to read even more with badges and prizes for logging reading, completing activities and submitting book reviews. Different reading challenges are offered throughout the year with different themes depending upon your age group. Each challenge sets a goal. Many challenges will offer suggested titles for the theme presented. Some of the challenges also offer a reward for reaching a particular goal. The rewards are a fun way to get children (and adults) in the habit of reading.
- Go to griffinfree.beanstack.org
- Click on Register an Individual or Family. You will be asked if you want to register yourself or your child. If registering as a family, the parent/caregiver should begin by clicking I am Registering Myself. You will be asked for your first name, last name, email, phone number, zip code, age, and grade. Adults will choose 18+ for ages and Adult for grade.
- Email and phone number are not required, but you will only be able to recover your password if you provide an email.
- Register for a program by the reader’s age.
- Once registered, you will be asked if you want to add another adult or child. The username and password created for the family account should be used by all family members you created to log in to their Beanstack account.
- Log in to your Beanstack account and click the “Log Reading” button in the upper lefthand corner of the screen.
- Select the reader on your account for whom you are logging reading and then the desired log type. Note that if readers are enrolled in a current challenge, you will only see the log types (books, minutes, pages, or days) used in that challenge.
- Select the date for the reading session, keeping in mind that you can only record reading for the dates that the challenge is active.
- Click “Log.”
- You will then see any badges and rewards that have been earned once the new reading entry is logged.
When you reach a goal in your current Beanstack challenge, you can come to the library to claim your prize.
