September Reading Challenges

Win prizes for logging your reading! In September, we offer different challenges by age group.

For Preschool to 8th Grade

A colorful graphic featuring the text 'BACK TO SCHOOL' in bold letters, decorated with paper pennants and accompanied by illustrations of a globe, a pencil, stacked books, and a paper airplane.

It’s back to school time! Start the school year right by setting goals, getting organized, and, of course, reading! Log your reading to earn badges (and prizes) throughout the challenge. Pick up a Challenge Bookmark at the library and complete the tasks!

For Ages 14-18 & Adults

Graphic promoting a 'Banned Books Reading Challenge' featuring flames and a book being lit, emphasizing the theme of reading challenged or banned literature.

Reading is empowering! Learn about new perspectives and celebrate the freedom to read with books that have been challenged or banned throughout the years or any book that catches your eye. Readers under age 18 log reading to earn badges and prizes throughout the challenge. Adults earn a raffle ticket for every book read to enter a drawing for the monthly reading prize!

For Infants to Preschoolers

Illustration of a house with birds and open books in a green landscape, promoting the '1000 Books Reading Challenge'.

One thousand books? That seems like way too many, right? Not at all. You got this. It doesn’t matter if your child is three, or just three months – there’s no better time to start than now! Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. Take that motivation, open one book, and get started. The goal is to work reading aloud into your regular routine, and let the magic of stories do the rest. Every 100 books you log in your account will earn your child a prize!
